Bullying in the Lights camp claims so what's new??

Well lots actually. We are busy writing our album at the moment. In the meantime our label will be reissuing Low Hundreds in a few weeks and there is a good chance we will be doing a little jaunt around the ....UK.... to support this.

Album and Tour news all TBC in the very near future.

And finally, alleged reports leaked by an anti bullying helpline that I have been throwing my weight around at band practice are totally unfounded. However you do have to slap Dan quite hard sometimes to get him to play the right chord.
BYE for now

Low Hundreds Lyrics and Info here
DON’T STOP LOOKING CUZ I WON’T STOP LOOKING AS WE’RE PASSING THROUGH
WE FLOW WITH THE RIVER DOWN TO THE SHORE
ALONE AT NIGHT SHE SAID “WELL THAT’S ALRIGHT IF I CAN DREAM OF YOU” AND IF NOT BEFORE…

I’LL SEE YOU DOWN AT THE LOW LOW HUNDREDS
TAKE YOUR TIME WE’LL STAY FOREVER
CUZ WE SPEND OUR LIVES APART TRYING TO GET TOGETHER

THE WAVES RIDE HIGHER NOW MY ONE DESIRE IS A SECOND GLANCE
SEE NOW I’M DROWNING DEEP IN YOUR EYES
TOO MUCH GASSING NOW WE’RE TWO SHIPS PASSING AND WE MISS
OUR CHANCE
BUT IF WE CAPSIZE…

Info on Cantre’r Gwaelod and the myth that inspired the song can be found here

continuing the Welsh theme we also shot some of the vid amid the spectacular scenery of the Cadair Idris pass and the lovely town of Barmouth.

NEW AUTUMN RELEASE
"The Fair Weather Travelling Companion" EP is available to download from iTunes and 7digital indiestore from Nov 3rd. Here's what people are saying about it....

"Following up downoad single, The Score, Brum quintet THE LIGHTS get physical with The Fairweather Travelling Companion own label EP. With the electric version sounding like Duran, it's interesting to hear an acoustic Stop Stop Carry On here sounding far more in tune with the psychedelic trad folk of The Leaving Song and the building anthemic Maria McKee inclinations of Film Within A Film. Of the other two equally fine tracks here, the Manics flavoured She's The Answer comes from the earlier Eve EP while a falsetto voiced slow tumbling pop Welcome To It All is part of the Blue Whale sessions available for free download on their website www.thelights.co.uk"

MIKE DAVIES BRUM BEAT

"Harmony driven, rich folk with a stirring, disquieting melancholic heart…"

SUBBA-CULTCHA

"I was rather taken with The Light's last single - The Score with its sub-Pat Benatar vocals and intoxicating harmonies, and with this new ep the band have evolved in a direction I perhaps wouldn't have expected. Moving away from the pop rock sound of The Score to something more folk orientated. In particular Film Within A Film and The Leaving Song evoke memories of Poppies In A Field Of Corn period River City People (a much loved and much missed band). Elsewhere Kellio shares lead vocals with Lizzy Keys, the acoustic duet Stop Carrying On being particularly poignant. ****"

More Reviews for 'The Score'
Blimey Charlie, cop a load of this then!! Well, you certainly can't say that The Lights lack confidence!! 'The Score' is full-on, flat-out energy and good, solid British panache!! Stunningly assembled and beautifully recorded, 'The Score' just zips out at yer and smacks yer full in the face - no excuses, no apologies, no prisoners taken! If you ever want to show someone what energy and confidence is all about just point them in the general direction of The Lights - they're absolutely bristling with electricity and feelgood factor. The Lights are a Birmingham five-piece and they certainly know how to rock up a good pop song; 'The Score' is simply gruesome! Right from the opening notes through to the last decay of the last note, 'The Score' whip up a pretty scary frenzy - it's brilliant, it's massive, it's bloody great! 'The Score' is rammed full of commerciality - it's memorable, instantly recognisable, melodic, epic, anthemic and many more ...ics that I just can't call to mind at the moment. Certainly different and definitely hard-driven, 'The Score' crashes from the speakers, leaving scorch marks as it exits, and runs rampant through the brain - it's scary shit but by God it's good shit!! 'The Score' by The Lights is a piece of rocket fuelled pop-rock the like of which you just don't hear every day - fanbloodytastic!! Whoever said pop music can't be enjoyable? Peter J Brown aka toxic pete

The Lights return victorious from italian music festival
The Lights came top of the semi final grouping at The Trimis European Music Festival in Bologna on Friday and went on to success at the finals on Saturday where we won "Best International Group" and also 2nd place in the overall final. Further more Dan went on to win best guitarist of the whole weekend! (I know) The prize for that being a gorgeous genuine fender strat which he couldn't' wait to get his mitts on. 2nd place won us a rather nifty PA system which we have had to leave in Italy cuz we couldn't fit it on the plane.
